Job Description:

RCH Solutions is seeking a Lab Systems Application Developer who will be instrumental with the laboratory systems and application development skills to learn the Analytical Chemistry HPLC Automation system.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the planning, design, implementation, testing, and support for the Analytical Chemistry HPLC Automation system.   This in the lab role, involves learning the existing system and developing and performing testing as part of IT Windows 10 security patching service and Windows 10/11 version upgrades. 

Role and Responsibilities:

The role requires experience with and an ability to quickly learn the functions of a suite of custom developed applications that provide scheduling, run updates, and analysis of walk-up/on-demand sample analysis in Analytical Chemistry.  Lab systems involved include Waters mass-spec and Agilent HPLC systems.  The role requires a balance of IT application development, testing, and project management skills. The Lab Analyst will coordinate testing with IT efforts to patch and upgrade the lab systems. This will include developing a testing environment, authoring, and performing test scripts, making fixes to the application, and signing-off on the use of the systems in the production environment after patching and upgrades.
  • This will include planning and performing application testing as part of an upcoming Microsoft security patching (~40 systems) and 20H2 upgrades (2 systems).
  • The HPLC Automation system interfaces with Waters and Agilent HPLC and MS systems.
  • This is during the planning phase with Analytical Chemistry for the patch and upgrade effort.
  • Ultimately this individual will lead the overall effort and take on lifecycle ownership of the HPLC Automation system.
Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidate has worked in an R&D lab as a scientist or as a technician for a lab system vendor, with hands-on experience and looking to work with IT groups.
  • Experience with lab systems and automation technologies like automated test scripting, MassLynx and OpenLab. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure tools to manage code and related lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with software testing scenarios and supporting tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including a variety of business and technical audiences.
  • Understanding of IT application architectures, SDLC, security, and data management processes.
  • Work directly with lab scientists and IT partners to understand challenges, collect requirements, and deliver tested HPLC Automation applications.
  • Coordinate testing activities with projects to perform Microsoft security patches and Windows10 & 11 upgrades.
  • Author and perform test scripts. 
  • Lead resolution to problems found when testing.

Education:
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent degree plus experience
